Writing progress
Jul. 14th, 2006 09:19 amSignificant writing accomplished this week, but alas not the fun kind. Instead I finally managed to finish writing up my desk procedures.
Desk procedures are an especially mind-numbing form of torture because of the level of detail required. Now that they are documented, if I get hit by a bus at lunch (or win the lottery this weekend), someone with the correct skill set can sit down at my desk, pick up the procedures and start doing my job. Or at least the parts of my job that have to do with coordinating the worldwide measurements and forecasting process. That's the theory, anyway.
Example from the desk procedures:
Connect to DATABASE name
Ensure options are set to "Formulas Retain on Retrieval"
Go to forecast tab
Retrieve forecast
If checksum=0 then forecast load has been validated, and proceed to executive summary step. If checksum is not equal to zero...
