The boxes that ate my house
Mar. 26th, 2006 10:33 amSpent this morning assembling a box of books to be shipped to Iraq. Last year at my cousin's wedding I met one of her best friends, a marine whose unit was scheduled for deployment to Iraq this winter. Alice wanted to read one of my books, so rather than simply giving her one right then, I asked if she would rather have me send her books when she was in Iraq. She was thrilled with the idea. So once her unit was settled I put out a call on a couple of writer's boards for autographed books and this morning assembled their donations along with my own. It's a nice selection, with a little of everything.
Also finished opening up the last of my birthday presents, as the celebrations stretched over the weekend. Friday night
jennifer_dunne gave me a copy of Crystal Dragon by
rolanni and
kinzel, that she had finally managed to track down, and
jpsorrow gave me a set of the Borderline card games. We played the USA version, where Jennifer helped me persuade him that Massachussetts bordered Maine (grin). I can see more of these games in the future, for which I place the blame squarely on the shoulders of
lnhammer.
