Treats & miscellaneous news
Nov. 19th, 2005 08:59 pmI'm a firm believer in rewarding yourself when you've reached a writing milestone. In the case of THE FIRST BETRAYAL, I'd promised myself a new computer when I finished the revisions on the book, and DSL.
My old computer couldn't run DSL without upgrading Windows, which was one of the reasons why I hadn't installed DSL before. I had to do an emergency replacement of the computer a couple of weeks before the revisions were done (hate stupid laptops, we hates their fragile hard drives, we hates them we does).
Once I was back from WFC and the extended business trip, I ordered DSL. Just finished installing it, and am looking forward to high speed websurfing at home. Whee!
For someone who has been on the internet in one form or another for a couple of decades, there is a certain irony in my waiting this long to get DSL. Then, again, I remember when my 300 baud modem was pretty darn spiffy.
In other news, last night fellow authors
jpsorrow,
jennifer_dunne and I got together for pizza, games, hard cider, and scrumptious desserts from Purple Awning Pastries. At one point, as we degenerated into silliness, I pointed out that we should be damn glad that there weren't webcams connected to our livejournals. Not that we weren't having a good time, which we were, but somehow I think aspiring authors would be a tad stunned to see what three pros get up to in their spare time.
Then, again, it might inspire some folks. "If these nuts can get published, why not me?"
And finally, thanks to everyone who responded to the earlier "Why are you here?" post. Happy to have everyone, and hope I entertain.
