Briefly surfacing my head before I disappear under the waves.  Life is busy.  Work is busy.  Sleep is an illusion.

Reading:  Still reading Hammered by Elizabeth Bear ([livejournal.com profile] matociquala).  I'm enjoying it very much, but the setting is proving a distraction.  The "hellish streets of Hartford" are well known to me, so every time she mentions a street, or a place, my brain pauses as I try to picture it.  I know Bushnell Park, I've been drinking in the Federal Cafe, and well, you get the picture.  I'm having lots of fun, but can't help wondering how my experience of the story would be changed if she'd set in in Springfield or Schenectady.  I think I'll have to read it again once I finish, so I can enjoy the storytelling without being distracted by the knee-jerk "Oooh, I've been there" reactions.

Watching: Farscape DVDs.  Frantically.  Now on season 3, and only 17 days till the Farscape essay is due at Benbella Books.  I'm having way too much fun with the little stuff.  The first two seasons were a riot just to catalog John's wardrobe changes, and pin down the precise moment when he started carrying a gun everywhere he went.  It's amazing how much you could tell of his mental state by which color t-shirt he was wearing on that day...

Drinking: Laying in stock of wine for this weekend's house guests.

Eating: Real food.  House guests means no microwaveable meals.  My fridge will now be filled with something other than frozen boxes, milk, milano cookies, and containers labeled "Thermal Mass- Do Not Drink."

Writing: Finally finished revised series outline and e-mailed to agent, who no doubt thought I'd disappeared down a rabbit hole.
