According to a USA today article http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/2005-01-30-students-press_x.htm only 51% of students feel that newspapers should be able to publish freely. 36% of them believe that government approval should be required before publishing a story.

Can you say Watergate anyone? Of course to today's high school students, Watergate is irrelevant ancient history, much like the Iran-Contra scandal.

Grr. Argh.

Being a teacher myself I can safely say that most students feel that NEWSPAPERS are ancient, archaic history, not just Watergate.
