From the department of the completely obvious

Buried in the article about how you can get fake ids that will fool even the experts was the revelation that many buyers of these ids have found themselves the victims of identity theft.

I mean, really. You provide your personal information to a company that specializes in creating fake ids, and you're surprised to find yourself ripped off?

If only these people would take themselves out of the gene pool...

I'm not surprised. I'm really not. There seems to be a large percentage of people who are always completely shocked, shocked, I tell you, that the world does not automatically align with What They Want Right Now, No, There Could Be No Downside. And it's the same among adults and kids, urban and rural alike. I moved from teaching at a Southern California urban school to an Olympic Peninsula rural school, and the same proportion of people I interact with on a daily basis, from students on up, seem to have no clue that the surface is not the depths.

Well, see, the thing is, when they do it, it's clever, but when those other people do it, it's SHOCKING! And APPALLING! And VERY VERY BAD!

And it gets better-- law enforcement knows about these people being ripped off because they report the crime. "Hey, I bought an illegal id from this company in X, and then they used my information to get bogus credit cards and drain my debit account..."

Kind of like the guy who called 911 to report that his drugs had been stolen. Appears that the clue bus drove right by these people without stopping.

The clue to it all lies in the NINTH word of the linked phrase in your post.
