There ought to be more of us

Many people indulge in retail therapy but mine takes a unique form. When I feel sad, I buy books. And when I feel happy... I also buy books. ("Damn, that conversation was upsetting, I guess I better hie me to a bookstore and fetch home treasure to comfort me!" "Yay, that's so cool, what I need to celebrate is to buy some books!")

If more people were like me, the publishing industry would be well on its way to recovery.

Now if only I could find time to read all the books that I buy....

THIS THIS THIS

this is why I generally have a book (or three) in my car for when traffic jams happen. I remember being caught in one for like 2 hours, everyone else was getting upset/angry. I just shrugged, pulled out my book and didn't notice the passage of time!

(its also why I don't like books on tape/cd when I'm driving -- I so lose myself into the book that I forget to pay attention to the road!)

My standard for buying a purse is "Can I fit a paperback in here?" Because, of course, you need to be able to have a book precisely for those occasions.
