Captain Nemo vs Daleks, who would win?

Today's question to ponder-- if the Daleks invaded an Earth defended by Captain Nemo, would humanity survive? Nemo has the advantages of an undersea base, while the hive mind tells me that Daleks haven't been seen swimming since the Classic Who episode The Dalek Invasion of Earth (1964). But the Daleks have shown the ability to assemble overwhelming armies....

[Poll #1925504]

Nemo is the original Steampunk antihero, so I'd like to think that humanity had a fighting chance. And Daleks even look Steampunk in appearance, so they'd fit right in the set of the old films. I'd like to see James Mason* facing off against them.

Alas, I can't bring you Nemo versus the Daleks. But I can offer up a collection of Steampunk vs Aliens stories for your reading enjoyment. Want to know if your favorite authors are on Team Humans or Team Aliens? Visit the Clockwork Universe kickstarter page to find out how you can help make this project a reality.

*James Mason played Captain Nemo in the 1954 film 20000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Nemo would win because the humans always win. After great struggle and suffering, of course. Unless your writer happens to be H. P. Lovecraft, in which case both humans and Daleks lose . . .

I'm rooting for Nemo as well, but you raised an interesting point-- the cover for the Clockwork Universe Project does suggest that Cthulu's followers may be involved in a climactic battle.

Nemo has to win, imho. Daleks just aren't badass enough to take him out.

Agree! But Daleks are like cockroaches so he'd constantly have to be on guard for their next attempt.

All evidence suggests that any win against the Daleks is temporary at best. So I have no doubt Nemo would pull it off. But a Dalek would slip out of a timelock somewhere and sneak back, after raising another army. Or be not quite dead as previously assumed. Or be creepy, invasive, and insidious in new and exciting way and I assume you get the idea.

Exactly. With the Daleks there never is a final victory.

Tangentially related to your icon, we're trying to figure out if the cover art hints that Cthulu's followers may be involved in the attack.

Excuse me, are you suggesting the Ood are Cthuloid? :P

...I can get behind this idea. I mean, space was heavily involved in the Mythos

I'm not the first to have noticed the resemblance... I sense a common ancestor or perhaps Time Lord meddling....

Well, they are definitely cooler than Deep Ones.

Daleks would crush Nemo's forces easier than they did the Timelords.

At least that's what I think.

Ex-ter-mi-nate!

No power in the universe can stop the Daleks!

Ex-act-ly! =)

It would totally have to be Nemo, because James Mason way outranks Daleks on the Hollywood Scale of Hotness. And he's a tragic figure who lost his wife and child to evil slavers. The story would show how he regains his humanity by falling in love with someone who lost her whole family to Daleks... I want this story in the anthology!!!!

I want you to write it! Except for that pesky trademark issue with the Daleks. Hmm, you could file off the serial numbers, or write it anyway and post as a fanfic bonus. Hmm.

Nemo would win.

For now.

Yes, but his victory may be fleeting. A friend pointed out that a Dalek appears on page D in the children's book Animalia by Graeme Base, showing a high level of infiltration in our society.
