If you have cake, they will come
Blinking my eyes and seeing daylight now that February is over. (Yes, I know the calendar says March 11th, but for those of us lucky enough to support corporate financial systems here at Megacorp, February ended at noon today, with the last of the database runs.)
I've been remiss in reporting on Saturday's booksigning at Between Books in Claymont, Delaware, so here goes.

jpsorrow and we headed down to Delaware. Arriving in plenty of time due to judicious use of the accelerator pedal, we scoped out the location of the store and then backtracked to the Claymont Steak Shop to grab lunch. As we walked in, who should we see but fellow signer scbutler, who'd also succumbed to the lure of a good cheese steak sandwich. Since our last suspicious encounter with scbutler at a gas pump on the MassPike, he's taken to searching himself and his vehicle at regular intervals, but has yet to find the locator beacon.
We then went to the bookstore where we met up with Barbara Campbell, and our host Greg Schauer. Greg and his staff were fabulous hosts, not only did they have prodigious piles of our books ready to be signed, but there was a cake with our bookcovers on it! This was a first for me, and we spent much time admiring it.
Despite the gorgeous and unseasonably warm weather, a good sized crowd collected, and we discussed our books, our varied approaches to the writing process, and tried to get dirt on Barbara from her sisters who were in the audience. After about an hour we moved on to the all important cake eating part of the program, as well as autographing and getting a chance to chat one on one with folks, includingelven_wolf and kurizumaru who'd driven in from Harrisburg.
After the signing was over I was tempted to just roam around Between Books--their stock is amazing and I could have easily spent hours there. But the combination of a to-be-read stack that is in 3 digits and a 200 mile drive back home kept me from spending the time that the store deserved. I highly recommend it, and if you're ever in the area, it's worth a trip.

Hey, and now that I know the store is literally FIVE MINUTES from some of my favourite relatives in the whole entire world, I will be making my way back. I simply didn't have the money to go browsing, I reached my limit with you lot. Hehe. But just from walking around I did see stuff I would like to come back and look more into.
