Class action lawsuit

Spent a fair amount of time this morning trying to persuade my brother (a trial attorney) to take on the case of the hapless protons being flung at each other by the Hadron Collider, treated with the same callousness oft displayed toward the illegal immigrants used as so-called crash test dummies in South Florida insurance scams.

Sadly, while sensitive to their plight, my brother pointed out that he is not currently licensed to practice law in Europe. I, in my naivete, would have thought the problem of getting the particles to testify regarding the harm done to themselves and their family bonds was a far greater obstacle, which I suppose just goes to show my general ignorance of the legal system. Ah well, it looks like the protons will have to turn elsewhere for help. And in the meantime, lacking a great cause to advance, I suppose I must return to the previously scheduled holiday shopping.

*laughs* It may be that your brother simply saw the most obvious and pragmatic problem with him becoming the solicitor in this case, and the greater difficulty you pointed out sadly had to come secondary to that initial trouble. :)

*Nods in agreement* I've noticed that practicing law is all about routines, rules, and doing things in a certain order, and, well, if we're going to save the protons, clearly the legal route is not the way to go. We may have to resort to guerilla action, or try to register them as refugees with the High Commissioner in The Hague.

I'm now envisioning you marching back and forth in front of the Hague with a picket sign that says "SAVE THE PROTONS!"

If you ever decided to do this, please let me know in advance so I can join you. Or at least take pictures. :)

You know if I lived closer, I'd be tempted. It would be entirely awesome.

Sadly a demonstration in front of the UN in New York is unlikely to have the same effect-- New Yorkers are so jaded that they would be unmoved by the plight of the protons, and my sign waving would likely attract the entirely wrong sorts of attention.
