It's like they know me

Listening to the internet radio station http://www.pandora.com while I work. You plug in the names of songs and/or artists that you like, and it uses the Music Genome project to select more songs that it thinks you'll like. You get the chance to vote thumbs-up/down to refine the choices.

The best part is clicking on the key that says "Why is this song playing?" According to my current selection, my previous choices have indicated that I like "emotional male lead vocal performances."

There's a reason why I've named this virtual station angst-rock.

It's fun! I've created one station for work, and another for music to write by.

I've even started making a list of CD's I want to buy, from new artists I've come across. I can hear alternative rock anywhere, but there are few opportunities to listen to Celtic/Folk albums to get a feel for what's new out there.

This looks like a great way to make discoveries. I'd never really listened to Ella Fitzgerald before, but she came up via Linda Eder. Nice voice!

This is what I love best about Pandora. I hadn't bought CDs since highschool until I started stumbling across artists on Pandora. And since a lot of the people I find aren't really big names, I can generally buy their CDs pretty cheap on Amazon.
