Today is the official publication date for THE MIDNIGHT QUEEN, a debut novel from Sylvia Izzo Hunter.

Published authors reading my blog will remember how we felt the day our first novel hit the stores. After months (or years) of telling our family, friends, coworkers, strangers on the street that "I'm an author, Yes, I've sold a book, No, it wasn't out yet, but would be soon," the day had finally come when the book could be found in stores, and ordered online. Looking back I'm surprised that I didn't float away, like an untethered helium balloon.

I'm thrilled that this day has finally come for Sylvia, and hoping it's the first of many successful book launches for her. And I can't wait to read my copy of THE MIDNIGHT QUEEN--a fantasy novel set in an alternate version of Regency England, it's two of my favorite things together, like she wrote it just for me.

I'll admit to having drifted away from Livejournal-- my attention span has been more suited to 140 character tweets than to deep thoughts in past months. But I'll admit to missing connecting with friends on LJ.

Being self-published, all I got was an e-mail from the self-publishing service and assistance company telling me that my book(s) had been published. Even so the feeling of being lighter than air, or of being a child on Christmas Eve were much stronger than I had expected. A wonderful time... congratulations to Ms. Hunter.

Isn't it a great feeling to know that the words you've written are now out there for others to read and enjoy? Nothing like it.

Tremendous feeling of accomplishment, even if only a few buy and read. BTW, received my backer's copy of Clockwork Universe: Steampunk vs. Aliens yesterday. Obviously my next read once I finish Treason's Harbor by Patrick O'Brian. (One of the "Master and Commander" series.)

You are most very welcome. I'm about 1/3 of the way thru the book and loving it so far. Sadly last night I had a social life which meant I didn't have reading time, but hoping to get back to it tonight.

Congratulations!
I've added your book to my TBR list. It might take me a while to get to it as I read primarily on my lunch break at work. From the title and description it sounds like you may want to consider the Historical Novel Society (http://www.historicalnovelsociety.org). (Historical novels embraces a wider reach of stories than one would imagine.)
